Who better to ask where the ono grinds are than our local staff? From farm-to-table to casual dining, these recommendations will leave you satisfied.

Of course, we always welcome you to dine with us at our oceanfront, award-winning, ocean-friendly restaurant Hualani’s, but when you feel like getting out for a bit, our concierge has fantastic options for you to taste the flavors of Kauaʻi.

In Town

Just a few minutes drive from Timbers in downtown Līhuʻe.

Duke’s Canoe Club

Our very close neighbors on Kalapakī Bay! Duke’s is named in honor of the legendary Duke Kahanamoku, best known for spreading aloha, educating others on the Hawaiian lifestyle, and of course, surfing.  A classically Hawaiian vibe, Duke’s is beachfront with views of Nāwiliwili Bay and the lush mountains beyond. The island-casual environment is welcoming, and you have the option to choose from the Barefoot Bar or Dining Room menus depending on your preference and timing that day. Think elevated bar food with an island twist downstairs, and delicious surf and turf (and salad bar!) options upstairs. You really can’t go wrong, unless you forget to order the hula pie!

Plantation House by Gaylords

Located on Kilohana Plantation, a once-sugar plantation, Plantation House has a wide array of fresh dishes to choose from. Using local ingredients from the farm on property, seasonal dishes are always available according to what is ripe for the picking!  For a closer pre-dinner look for the whole family, the Kauaʻi Plantation Railway offers train tours of the plantation, fruit and vegetable groves, and an intro to many of the farm animals. Adults only? Check out the Rum Safari, which tours the property via open-air safari-like vehicle, with stops and  farm-to-glass cocktails along the way courtesy of Koloa Rum Company.

Kauaʻi Beer Co

Casual and quality. Kauaʻi Beer Co always has excellent craft beers on tap, as well as a full bar. Their menu keeps it simple, but always delivers. Burgers, sandwiches, vegetarian options, and small plates make this an easy “yes!” for any group. A local hot spot and tourist destination, the Kauaʻi Beer Co offers indoor or outdoor seating and the friendly and knowledgeable servers are always ready with a beer pairing or food recommendation. Don’t be surprised when you see some canine friends enjoying an afternoon at the Beer Co. They are very dog-friendly and have homemade treats ready for when furry friends come to visit. No need for a reservation… walk-ins are welcome!

A Short Trek

Stevenson’s Library (at the Grand Hyatt)

Stevenson’s is the place for the freshest sushi, cocktails, and live entertainment. Options are available for seating on the lanai to take in the ocean breeze or indoors to admire the stunning koa wood décor throughout the restaurant. It’s perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail and pupus, or to stay for a full meal. A stroll around the beautiful grounds are worth the trip in itself, but the dining and drink options are top-tier. It also makes for a great date night spot!

The Beach House

Looking for a sunset dining experience? This is it. The Beach House is best known for its craft cocktails, fresh mac nut crusted catch, and delectable pupus in a stunning location. Almost surrounded completely by water, the window-lined restaurant has an ocean view wherever you sit. Enjoy a cocktail and sunset on the lawn while sunset surfers paddle out for one last ride. Inside the open-air restaurant you will surely enjoy one of your best meals on island, complete with incredible sunset photo ops. As they say, “Our philosophy at the Beach House is simple – take some good old-fashioned Hawaiian hospitality, blend it with a Pacific Rim food experience and add an outstanding view to deliver an experience that delights all the senses.”
