Meet the ‘Ohana - The Reynolds

For Dan and Susan, Timbers Kaua‘i is more than a place to vacation—it’s a home away from home built around family, friendship, and the spirit of aloha. After decades of visiting Hawai‘i and a lifelong love for Kaua‘i, they found at Timbers the community, setting, and lifestyle they had been searching for, becoming owners in 2020.

Question: What is your favorite part about being an owner at Timbers Kaua’i?
Answer: There are so many things! The first thing that comes to mind is that it feels like you’re part of a family. We’ve gotten to know so many people here, both employees and other owners. So, every time we come back, we get to talk to everyone about their families and the kids, just catching up with everyone! We’ve also met so many nice owners that we’ve become so close with that we all plan to come back around the same time. We also look forward to meeting new owner and people and hope we get a chance to see them the next time we come! If you think about vacation, we bring friends and people to come and spend time with. But, when you come here, it’s like home away from home. During Covid, it allowed us to spend a lot of time here and get to know everyone on a personal level and to meet their families in some cases. That relationship has built over the years, and Hawaii will always be home for us. We’ve been coming to Hawaii for 35 years or so. Here, at Timbers Kaua’I, we have the pool, tennis and pickleball, the restaurant, the golf course, we have everything we need here on the 450 acres and it’s a variety of things that make it all special for us! 

Question: Can you tell me about your experience with our Timbers Reciprocity Program?
Answer: We’ve used it several times! We’ve gone to Esperanza in Mexico (many times), Italy, which was amazing, and Rancho Valencia in San Diego! It’s been easy to use, we love the wishlist where it notifies us when the property we want to go to is available for exchange, and it’s worked well for us!

Question: Which is your favorite TRP property?
Answer: It depends! Esperanza has been our go-to because from where we live, it’s convenient and easy to get to. Italy was AMAZING and a great place to combine when visiting other places to visit in Italy. We spent some time there with other owners and that property is stunning! But overall, Esperanza has been fantastic. Definitely one of the nicest places in Cabo.

Question: Everyone has a why, what brought you to own with us in Kaua’i?
Answer: We’ve come to this island for 35 years and Kaua’I is our favorite. We’ve always been looking for a place like this,so when we found Timbers Kaua’I, it truly resonated with our lifestyle. We originally started at the Hyatt, when our friends suggested we check this place out so we did. When we first ran into Debbie, she showed us the place and arranged for us to come back in October, where we spent time with other timbers owners, and after spending time on property and participating in activities with the owners, we more and more fell in love with the place and knew this is the place we were looking! We HAD to own here. We enjoy coming here more than any place  We originally purchased in Maliula and found love in Kaiholo, so we upgraded. We own a place without having to wory about maintenance or all the upkeep but you also get all the amenities on a first-class resort. It’s the best of both worlds! You can never find a place anywhere like this, especially here on Kaua’I, and there’s absolutely no place like home when you come to Timbers Kaua’i. It speaks a lot about what Timbers is all about, we’ve been here for a number of years and coming back to see all the familiar faces. We’ve been to all the other islands and visited many different places, and this place truly is unique for what it has to offer, from people to locations to amenities, it’s 5-star all across the board.
