Aloha Kakōu. E komo mai to our 3rd edition of Talk Story, a blog in which we sit down and talk story with a different member of the Timbers Kauaʻi ʻohana. This month we feature McKell Lasrich, our own Guest Experience Coordinator.

McKell’s sparkly smile, infectious personality and big heart has easily made her a beloved part of our Timbers Kaua’i ‘ohana.  She met with us to tell us her take on the true meaning of Aloha, and how she helps to make our Owners and guests feel right at home.

McKell was born and raised in Utah. She has lived on Kauaʻi for 13 years now and is loving every minute of it. Recently owning her own yoga studio for over 5 years, she comes to Timbers with 18 years of yoga, health and wellness experience. McKell became a member of the Timbers ʻOhana in April of 2021. What does Aloha mean to you?
”Aloha is a Hawaiian word for love, affection, peace, compassion and mercy. It is commonly used as a simple greeting but has a deeper cultural and spiritual significance to Hawaiians.  Aloha is used to define a force and a way of life that holds us together and honors us all.  It’s meaning goes beyond any definition you will find.

Aloha is a way of living and treating each other with kindness, love, and respect. Our Hanai ʻohana, Kupuna, and ʻAina. It starts by teaching us to love ourselves first and to spread the love to others, the animals and the land. It is the Golden Rule- Honor others as you would honor yourself.”
