Welcome to Talk Story, a new blog series featuring a different member of the Timbers Kaua’i ‘Ohana, each month. In Hawaii, the common phrase “Talk Story” is used often among local residents. To “Talk Story” means to chat casually. So when we sit down with each other to connect and catch up from the last time we spoke, we are essentially “Talking Story.”

In this first edition, we Talk Story with our Residence Club Manager, Ku’ulei Cummings. Born and raised on Kaua’i, in the town of Wailua, she shares what this island means to her..

Q: WHAT IS YOUR KULEANA (JOB) AT TIMBERS KAUA’I, AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PART OF THE ‘OHANA (FAMILY)?
K: Residence Club Manager (my kuleana is too long to list lol) been with Timbers almost two years.

Q: IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT MAKES TIMBERS KAUA’I AT HOKUALA SPECIAL OR UNIQUE?
K: The people. The value of ohana created here is one that I have seen nowhere else,
it is extremely special.

Q: DESCRIBE KAUA’I IN ONE WORD.
K: “Makamae” (precious or of great value)

Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HOBBY OR PASTIME WHEN YOU ARE NOT WORKING?
K: Enjoying my five keiki (kids), being with ohana (family).

Q: WHAT DOES “ALOHA” MEAN TO YOU?
K: Aloha is the value of unconditional love, a feeling that comes from deep within.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HAWAIIAN FOOD?
K: Squid Lu’au!
